DOUBLE-PAGE SPREAD ARTICLE

After almost seven years together, The Chicks are no longer together. Saskia Tobiasen has said she can’t handle the arguing from the bands members and she isn’t enjoying making the music as it is causing too many arguments. They’ve had four numbers ones in the United Kingdom as well as topping the charts across Europe and America. Saskia Tobiasen says ‘I knew it wouldn’t last forever, but I never thought it’d be arguments which broke us up.’                                                              Over the past year, the group have become further apart and cracks have begun to show within the groups. The band has been acting as if everything is perfect to the public eye but this isn’t the case behind closed doors. The tour set up across the United Kingdom has been cancelled which was due to start in February 2013 with 20 venues selling out. The Chicks have said ‘people who have bought a ticket will be fully refunded; we thank our fans for all the support from the past six and a half years.’ Kaye, Alice and Saskia have said they will all stay in touch and close friends, but they are all going to have a break from each other and have some time to do their own things. Saskia says ‘it just got too hard. I didn’t want to lose two of my closest friends, which I would have done if I carried on involved in the Chicks.’ The Chicks all started off, in 2005, as Solo artists and begun their career on the famous television programme ‘Find our Stars’ in order to create a new girl band.             These three got chosen to create the next best girl band. They then went on to become inseparable and bonded straight away. All three of the girls wanted to enjoy making music and being with people who wanted this as well made them stronger. Towards the start of their career, they became very well known over the world, topping charts in more than 15 countries. Young girls became inspired by these and looked up towards The Chicks. Their third single sold out within just over two hours of it being released. The girls carried on getting closer as their music got bigger.                                                  During the last few years, the group have started to go towards their own things, meaning they haven’t got as much time to create their music. The group wanted to spend more time with friends and family rather than always being together, this meant they had to give up their commitment towards music in order to do this. Kaye and Alice have agreed with Saskia that the best thing for them to do is to have a few years apart and then maybe revisit the music industry in a few years but right now, they want some time apart but Saskia was the one who came up with this idea but she doesn’t want to lose her career in music. All she has wanted from a young age is to create music so in order for her to be happy and still be doing music is to go solo. She says ‘It will be hard after being with the girls so much throughout my music career, but I think I am ready to move on and create my own style and the girls are behind me the whole way.
